The Born This Way singer has dominated the social networking site since joining in 2008, with the star regular choosing to share videos and music news online.

In March last year Gaga became the first user to pass 9million followers, but now she has managed to double that figure in just ten months.

Upon reaching the milestone figure, Gaga wrote: ‘Can’t believe I have 18,000,000 TwitterMonsters, really rad, was just a few years ago I had barely any.’

At the time of writing, Gaga had 18,137,279 Twitter followers, leaving a trail of celebrities in her wake.

Teen heartthrob Justin Bieber has 16.5million followers on the site, while Katy Perry is just shy of 14million.

Reality star Kim Kardashian has 12.6million followers, while former Twitter queen Britney Spears has 12.5million.

By comparison, American president Barack Obama has 11.96million followers.
